Welcome to the Serenata site

In its 30th year of entertaining audiences, Hertfordshire-based Serenata is an octet of versatile singers performing complex, challenging, interesting and fulfilling (and fun!) choral music written in up to eight separate voice parts.  Over the years we have performed a wide variety of music - sacred or secular - from all eras, in a wide variety of private or public venues, including foreign tours (earlier this year we went to Cyprus), generally unaccompanied but sometimes sharing concerts with instruments.  If you have a function/event/fundraiser with which you feel our choir (small in size but large of sound!) could help do contact David Robertson on 01707 325735 or via the links below.

On this site you should be able to find all forthcoming concert details, together with "items of historical interest" and you can hear some of our performances.

We are dependent on concert organisers for some of the arrangement details - these are put on the site as soon as they are available.

Any queries, whether about this site or Serenata activities, please email enquiries@serenatavoices.org.uk or click here.

We have an emailing list for notification of our concerts.  If you would like to be on the list contact us via one of the above links.

We've produced a cd, based on live performances of music "on the lighter side" performed during 2005 and 2006, as a sort of demo disc - if you would like a copy get in touch, whether you might be wanting us to perform for you or simply wanting to give a small present.

The SingaCappella organisation (of which David is part) held a second successful a cappella day in March, where ten small/chamber choirs again shared some inspirational coaching from a number of past and present Swingle Singers, this time including in addition a beatboxing coach.  If you're in a group that might be interested in joining the organisation or just want to know more, contact David through the links above or visit http://www.singacappella.org/ for details.

After stretching our linguistic larynxes in a very enjoyable all-French programme for the ever-welcoming Hertford Music Club - thank you Harold! - we're now busy preparing for our next concert in Hitchin.  This will be a much lighter programme based around four stages of romance - the last stage being "the patter of tiny consequences"....

We'll be performing a lot of interesting arrangements in these four stages, with some familiar and some new friends - - the ghostly She moved through the fair, the lively Dance to your Daddy and the beautiful Bailero among the folk contributions - - some lively older French songs and a smattering of sheep - - three amazingly inventive Beatles arrangements and two Gershwin favourites - - and two new arrangements from members of Serenata also contribute...

It is on Friday July 9th at 8pm at Hitchin British Schools, Queen Street.  This concert will be part of the Hitchin Festival and tickets will be available from the Town Centre Initiative or on the door.  A poster is here and a map here.

Other events with people from Serenata involved:

On July 18th David, with four other singers, is singing solos and duets in a "Festival of Song" at the Friends Meeting House in Welwyn Garden City.  6pm, free admission, collection for charity.  A poster for this will appear shortly.

On weekends throughout July Barbara is hosting an exhibition of her botanical art - some truly remarkable pieces on view - recommended!
